Water Quality Testing

– According to FSSAI regulation rules for water testing, if you conduct initial water testing for the first time, it must include a radioactivity test to monitor radioactive contaminants in water, and then this test must be repeated once every 5 years.

– The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has made it mandatory for all Food Business Operators (FBOs) to test water as specified in the latest edition of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standard IS 10500:2012. According to this regulation, water testing must be conducted at least once every six months.

Drinking Water Testing

Regular water testing is crucial for Packaged Drinking Water, with testing frequencies varying from daily to once every 5 years, depending on the parameter. Microbiological testing, in particular, must be conducted once a month from a BIS-recognized/NABL-accredited laboratory, covering parameters such as Faecal streptococci and Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella and Shigella, and Vibrio cholera and V. parahaemolyticus, to ensure the water meets safety standards.
